I might not have completed an entire plan but I did start a retirement account. I consider this a huge accomplishment.
I know, I know... please save the scoldings and judgmental looks for someone who doesn't realize they're about half a decade late in doing this. I am fully aware that I'm behind and have been wasting years of investment and earnings. However, better late than never!
Thanks to Liz, the financial lady who wonders around our school about 2 times a year handing out candy and business cards, I'm enrolled in a 403b. (Educators' version of 401k)
I had to take some big swallows when she mentioned that I can't touch the money until I'm 55 years old or that I only have about 30 years to go in the system.
*GULP*
Darn. I guess some part of me still hoped I might be able to retire by the age of 33.

Ha! Your last line made me giggle!
ReplyDeleteYea, I think we all wish we could retire by 33!
