I am SO excited that this goal is finally complete. It has also been several years in the making!
Mark and I are big fans of Anthony Bourdain, and his book "Kitchen Confidential" is a must read. It will give anyone some insight into what it's like to be in the chef business.

We also love his show "No Reservations" where he has the best job ever-- to travel the world and explore foreign places through visiting locals and eating their food. He also writes for various newspapers and magazines and judges on another favorite show of ours, "Top Chef". He was one of the first Celebrity Chefs when food and cooking shows were just beginning to become popular.

Although he is everywhere now, Bourdain considers himself a New Yorker and this is where he got his start. His restaurant, Les Halles, is extremely famous and often featured or mentioned in everything that I listed above. (He's standing behind the windows of it on his book cover.) It's been on our want-to-do-list forever!
Being that it's not in our usual night-out price range, it's always busy so it requires reservations, and Mark usually works weekend nights, it was difficult to find a time where we could go.
Well, we finally found and made time and it was all fantastic.
It was very New York, loud, crowded with interesting people, but we loved it. We ate foie gras, grilled calamari, steak, pork tenderloin, frites, garlic mashed potatoes, and more. The food was amazing and absolutely lived up to everything we had anticipated. They'll even make bananas flambe or bearnaise tableside!
I could go on and on but whatever I write won't do it justice. Moreover, it's very exciting for us that we're finally able to accomplish some of our want-to-do's and we can't wait to keep trying more!
Looks YUM!
