62. See all the movie's on AFI's top 100 list (9/123)

A few posts ago I mentioned that I squeezed in some classic movie action over Thanksgiving break.  All the films I watched were within the top 10 of AFI's Top 100 and show Old Hollywood at its best.

When I decided to watch Casablanca, I didn't know much about it except some of the famous lines and the names of the leads.

Now I know the context behind those famous lines, that Humphrey Bogart has a tender side, and that softening effect Old Hollywood constantly used really does make ladies look dreamy.

I'm a sucker for a love story, some random humor, and a little drama so this film made me smile.  I suspect these are the exact same reasons it has kept its mass appeal and relatability for all these years.

If you haven't seen it, it's worth a watch.  I can't say that about all the other films I've seen so far.

  1. Sigh. It is timeless. Just watching the quotes reel makes me smile. I've seen it a couple of times, my favorite being Screen on the Green on the National Mall.
