This Thanksgiving brought many firsts for my family and me.
It was our first holiday together on the East Coast, our first Thanksgiving at my place, our first time viewing the Macy's balloon inflation, and my first time running a 5k!
My sister and I woke up bright and early on Turkey Day and headed out to a nearby suburban town where we participated in their local Turkey Trot. My sister is very experienced when it comes to group/sporting events of this type but I had no idea what to expect. The 2400 participants ranged from small children, to serious competitors, to walkers dressed in full body turkey suits!

When I created this goal, I wrote that I would participate in a "run/walk" because at that time I could not even imagine running over 1 mile. I included the "/walk" mostly as a cop out. However, I am proud to say that I ran the entire time! Heidi was nice to stick by me and be my race buddy :)
It felt good to "Earn our Bird" and spend this time with my family. With goal 17 coming up, I wasn't going to be able to swing the time off from work or a plane ticket home. It quite possibly could have been my first Thanksgiving home alone! I'm so lucky that they came here and that we could be together. I am beyond thankful :)
Nice work Hansy! Proud of you. So glad you could spend the holiday with your fam in NYC! You look great:)
