Woops... looks like a couple of more weeks passed by without me documenting (or even really working towards) progress on my 101 list. You can probably tell by my sparse postings that I haven't been doing such a good job with my goals for work/life balance lately.
In fact, if you look through the Blog Archive you may notice an interesting pattern...
May- 10 posts
June- 7 posts
July- 3 posts
August- 8 posts
September- 3 posts
October- 2 posts
What life events do you suppose differ from the months with more regular postings versus the months with very few postings? Yes, the answer is work.
I know this is natural and it's not the end of the world, but that October number really worries me. It causes me concern because back in September I told everyone, "Worry not! I'm getting my bearings with school and shall be back in the swing of things soon! I have not forgotten about my 101 list!"
Well a month has passed and I did not get back in the swing of things. In fact, I dwindled off even more! My 101 list started to walk that thin line between "on the back burner" to "out of sight, out of mind". I know myself well enough to know that if I keep putting something off, it may just never happen. Unfortunately, this has happened more times than I care to admit so I cannot let this happen now!

So I'm going to spend some time reviewing my list tonight and brainstorming ways I can squeeze some more progress in. As I look at the mountain of grading I have, perhaps I can put on an AFI Top 100 movie in the background instead of an episode of Law and Order SVU I've probably already seen 7 times. Maybe this weekend when I have some spare time, I can pick up the phone and try to stay in better touch with a friend from afar. Perhaps that e-mail I need to type up for my school families I can also translate into Spanish to make myself practice.
It's these small efforts that make such a huge difference and just help me to feel more whole and accomplished. Again, that's why I created this list in the first place- because these goals are important to me and letting little things slip through the cracks builds up to major frustrations.
So here's to November and the hope that the blog archive WILL catch up and out-do October!
I hear ya! I think it's definitely okay to compromise on some of your goals to make them more attainable. One of my fitness goals that I set in August was to run a 10K by November and unfortunately that's not going to happen. However, I ran a 5K a couple of weeks ago and I have plans to run in another one this weekend. 5K + 5K = 10K, right? :) It works though and I'm crediting myself with reaching that goal even if it's not exactly what I had in mind.
