62. See all the movie's on AFI's top 100 list (3/123)

One movie that I saw on the AFI Top 100 list that caught my eye was "Tootsie". I was excited when it was available On Demand for instant viewing!

This is one of those movies you often hear about and I've caught glimpses of it when it's played on cable TV. However, I've never seen the actual movie in its entirety.

Dustin Hoffman plays an actor in NYC who is difficult to work with and is struggling to find work. Therefore, he poses as a woman and lands a role that makes him famous. Of course, living the double life starts to pose many problems and predicaments which escalate throughout the movie.

The movie is cute and explores gender roles and social stereotyping in a way that was probably pretty novel for 1982. I found a quote that sums it up well saying, "Tootsie is the kind of movie that combines absurdity with seriousness, social comment with farce, and a little heartfelt tenderness right in there with the laughs."

One of my favorite parts of the movie was the classic 80's song "It Might Be You" that played throughout. Stephen Bishop wrote and composed the song just for this movie!
