62. See all the movie's on AFI's top 100 list (4/123)

Some of the older movies on AFI's top 100 list are more difficult to find and rent, especially since I avoid going to the video store at all costs. Therefore I was pleasantly surprised to see that "Some Like it Hot" was available through the On Demand feature on our cable.

I LOVED THIS MOVIE!

There's obviously a good reason why it has been adored for years. AFI even considers it to be one of the top comedies of all time! It has the classic stars of Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon who all have cute characters.

The story line is pretty typical and predictable, but fun nonetheless. It follows two musicians who witness a mob murder, so they hide out with a women's band and masquerade as females. Comical situations ensue and the movie gives you a fun, smitten feeling. I was surprised at how provocative and "fresh" some of the lines were!

"Which of these instruments do you play?"
"Bow Fiddle"
"Ahh, fascinating. Do you use a bow... or do you just pluck it?"
"Sometimes I slap it!"
"You must be quite a girl!"

"Will you look at that! Look how she moves! It's like Jell-O on springs. Must have some sort of built-in motor or something!"

It goes without saying that Marilyn Monroe is a knock out. What a true beauty! Even though her character is ditzy and admittedly "not bright" you can't help but love her.

Check out her fantastic dresses (and those curves)!

I highly recommend this movie and it'd be perfect for a fun girls night. Make some "Manhattan" cocktails and just enjoy a giggly movie.
