I attended the first basketball game of the season!
For some reason, games started very late this year. (We only have 6 weeks left of school). Therefore, I have to make sure I am on top of the schedule so I can meet my goal! I tried to go to a game on Saturday but ended up having the location wrong, so that was a flop. Today I went to the "Lower Girls" game which is 6th grade and younger. The game is so funny to watch. They are young and still in the learning process :) However, we won by a lot and a few of the girls really did a great job. All of them worked hard and they were so excited to get another "W" for their record! We are the "Guest" on the scoreboard below.
I love going to my students' sporting events. They are always so shocked to see me because it dispels their idea that I live at school and go nowhere else!! Plus, it means so much to them. A lot of them don't have anyone come to watch so even though it makes them nervous/embarrassed, they secretly love that I'm there. It's great when the students do have parents come because I get to chat, laugh, and get to know them better. That definitely comes in handy when I have to make those phone calls home for disappointing behavior! They tend to be more supportive when they know me personally and know I have the best interests of their student in mind.
