The Brass Rail is a restaurant right down the street that I've been wanting to eat at ever since I moved here. So, in other words, it has taken me 3 years to finally go! Honestly, there is no particular reason why I have never been except that it is definitely on the higher end of our price range. It's not a usual spot we'd just pop into on a week night :) There is also no particular reason why I really want to go. I have just passed by it a thousand times and have grown curious. It's always busy, it looks cute and has a good ambiance, and it has good reviews.
That is why I put it on the list- so that I would actually take the time and just go!
So since I had a reason to celebrate, it was the perfect excuse to try it out. Mark also wanted to take me on a "date" since we haven't really seen each other lately, let alone had the chance to spend quality time together.
We had a great meal! We started off with cocktails. Mark had a classic Mojito and I had a Strawberry-Blackberry Margarita (Yes- it had real strawberry chunks and blackberries!). Mark ordered foie gras ravioli to start with. We both have never had foie gras but we'll wait until we drop a real pretty penny to actually consider it out first time. This dish tasted a little German and a little Asian, which Mark said it was probably French :) Then I had the skirt steak, with blue cheese, mushrooms, spinach, and shoestring potatoes. Mark had the pork tenderloin with cherries, broccoli, and potatoes. I know that you don't need a play by play of what went into our mouths, but we are foodies so our orders and the composition of the meal are interesting to us!!
Overall it was a good experience! I'm not sure if we'll be racing back anytime soon, but I am so glad to have finally tried it. Cross another one off!
