GO MUSTANGS!!!

(We are the "Guest" team on the scoreboard. Another win!!)
Basketball season is now in full swing and today brought more games for both the lower girls and boys team.
On Saturdays they play one right after the other so it was a perfect chance for me to watch some of the action! Besides some teacher aides that work in our school, about 5 parents, and the coaches, I was the only teacher that came. The coach commented that I am their number one fan!
The girls looked so much better today than in the last game. It is amazing how fast they are improving! Even though the score does not show it, they were more evenly matched against the school they played today. This game they were actually able to run plays and utilize their skills. The last game consisted more of chasing a loose ball around on the ground and trying to tug it away from the other team :) One of my students had a particularly good game, and she scored about half of the points!!! I happened to sit next to her Mom and she was so proud of her "baby". The team has a couple of more wins to go before they qualify for the playoffs. If they keep winning during the playoffs then they can go for the city championship!!
Here are the boys waiting patiently for their chance to play.
Today was the first opportunity I had to watch the lower boys play. Normally, my class makes up the majority of the team but this year I only have 1 boy playing. In fact, there are only 2 sixth grade boys on the entire team so most of them are very young. It still provides me a chance to get to know other kids in the school and establish a rapport with potential future students :) One of the notorious trouble makers from the 5th grade picked me out and sat by me the entire time. I'm unsure of what to think of his affinity for me!!!The boys were up by 5 when I left at halftime. I wasn't able to stay because I had to go to TFA learning teams. They struggled when the game started and were down by quite a bit, but then they made a nice run to move in the lead.
I can't get over how small they were. They looked like babies out there! Perhaps my next game will have to be the upper boys to see some of my past students play. Those boys were almost as tall as me when they were in my 6th grade class and now they are heads above me. I bet those games can get really exciting!
