I love my friends. They are such wonderful people who constantly inspire me to be a better person. I learn so much from all of them....not to mention we have tons of fun together :)
Unfortunately, my closest friends are spread out all around the country! After having different experiences in different cities, it's natural that we all don't live in the same place.
Therefore, it can be hard to stay in touch. While our friendships are solid enough that this does not strain the relationship, I still wish that I was able to spend more time with them and be in the know with what is going on in their daily life.
While I did not meet this goal by calling 3 friends this month...I think I did even better! I was able to see 3 great friends in person!! In fact, the past two months I have actually been traveling and spending time with my friends outside of NYC.
High School Friends
My dear friend from high school got hitched, so this was the perfect opportunity to spend time with her and other great friends from my home town! We started with a bachelorette gathering in Vegas. It was such a wonderful vacation and the planning/build up for the trip allowed me to chat with the ladies a lot.

Then we had the actual wedding weekend. It was an absolute blast and as corny as it may sound, there was just so much LOVE throughout the entire trip. It is great to spend time with people who know a past part of yourself and share a history with you. This is something I don't have in my new life out East and I miss that comfort.
College Friends
One of my favorite people in the whole world recently got engaged. Now, we get to plan fun activities for her :) We are now planning and going to celebrate with a girls weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks. Like I mentioned above, all the planning for this has prompted more
phone calls, e-mails, and conversation back and forth with my favorite ladies.
Also, we did a pretty good job of fitting in hang-out time with college buddies while we were back for the wedding. We got to see some of Mark's best friends which was great to see them back together. Those boys truly love one another too :)
Summer Job Friends
Last summer, I became very close with the people I worked with. Afterall, we lived, ate, and breathed together for 5 weeks in extremely small quarters. Even though a lot of us live right here in the same city, we try to meet up and it never works out. Well our friend Sarah from LA was in town showcasing a musical for which she wrote and composed all of the music. It was a perfect opportunity to meet up. We had dinner and drinks beforehand, watched the musical, and even hung out afterwards. It was so great to catch up and we all are kicking ourselves for not doing it more often!
TFA Friends
During my time with TFA, I became extremely close with Amanda. We taught the same subject, lived together for a month while we were training, and supported each other through the crazy, crazy experience. She moved away last year to attend Grad School at the University of Chicago (and also her hometown). Needless to say, I have missed her so much! She was able to come back and visit and spend an entire weekend with me. It was great to catch up.
Reunited and it feels so good! I love all of these friends and I'm so thankful that I've been able to spend so much time with them lately! I hope I can continue to keep the communication up and, in the end, really feel successful in meeting this goal.
