The completion of item 83 comes with both good and bad news.
We'll get the bad news out of the way first :) The girls ended their season with a sad loss. They made it all the way to the city championship only to have their biggest upset of the year. The school that won has beat us in this exact same championship game the last three years. It is an intense rivalry! It was not our team's best game and the girls were very heartbroken. It was sad yet endearing to see them crying as they watched the title slip away. However, all of us are extremely proud because they did such an amazing job to get to that point! Here they are receiving their runner up trophies!
I also got to treat three of my students and reward them by taking them to the game. We even got to stop for a little snack at Burger King first. At this point in the school year, it's nice to
start transitioning into the "mentor" role and spend some quality time with my students outside of the classroom. They were very giggly and excited and cheered throughout the entire game.
Some of the good news is that I superseded my goal! I made it to 5 games which I am proud to have squeezed into the craziness of life lately.
I finally made it to watch the upper boys play. These are the 7th and 8th graders and my former students. This game is DEFINITELY at a different level than the lower grades. I was impressed by their talent and intensity.
At one of the playoff games, I brought two of my girls to help cheer on the team. They loved being a part of the crowd and wrote me notes about how "It meant so much to them and it was the most fun ever!"
The good news here is that the boys rocked the championship game and are now the official #1 team! One of the boys even dunked the ball!
The final piece of good news is that item number 83 is complete!
Way to surpass this goal! When you write about the baseball and basketball games of your kids my heart melts a bit. Way to make a difference in and out of the classroom.
